The Silent Guardian

I am really ploughing on with the hobby lately! I found my mojo back and started going through my backlog of unfinished projects.
This is one of the three "easy to build" Liberators that I bought from GW a while ago to test my marble technique and its effectiveness in batch painting. This guy and his two companions were left unfinished for some three months on my desk but this sunday I decided it was time to give them the attentions they deserved. The other two should follow shortly after.
I am really satisfied of the colour scheme, so much so that I am seriously tempted to start a small Stormcast battalion for an army on parade or something similar...

  1. I would love to see the starter set Retributors painted up in this scheme.

    1. Well you might! I bought them as well and I even started painting one... The problem with them is that they have lots more metal trims that kind of set the colour balance slightly off... Too much gold basically. But I will find a solution, I also love those models very much!

    2. Yes, looking at the Retributors I can see the challenge. In this case breaking your rule about trims might be the best option. Alternatively you could fill in the shins and forearms, but it'd be shame to lose that detail.

  3. Thank you very much Tobias! I was looking for something simple to do and a solid alternative to the classic gold/metal scheme. I thought marble would conceive well my favourite aspect of the Stormcasts, their mysterious mythical and almost funereal origins. They are dead heroes after all!

  5. I've been attempting to recreate this marble effect and failing miserably. I saw in a few of the comments that you said you might do a tutorial. Have you done one? And if not, would you mind giving me the quick and dirty of how you achieved the effect?
