Good morning!
In the past few weeks I have slowly been working my way through painting my warriors of the Sons of Or... Given that I am incredibly slow (as you all know) and that I am experimenting a little bit with techniques, it's taking me forever to finish them, but I hope it will be worthy in the end.
I manage to complete the first one yesterday and thought it was time for an update.
Excuse me for the bad pics where you can appreciate every single pixel of the models. As you can see I played a little bit with some textures on the model, in particular leather, using the stippling technique that I've seen used many times on other blogs with interesting effects. Though not the most enjoyable process the result on areas like the armour are surely interesting and I am quite happy with the final result in the model, which I hope shows form the pictures (difficult to photograph).
Ultimately these models are conceived with playing in mind, but although they will not be competition worthy, I am confident that as a warband they will look pretty good on the table!
The rest of the warriors are also progressing, the main bulk is done on all of them and hopefully a couple more will join this first one before the end of the week.
Hagen
He looks absolutely brutal. The additional effort spent on the leather was well worth it. The textured string and rope is also a nice detail.
ReplyDeleteThanks Apoteos, glad you like him! More on their way!
Deletelooking good.
ReplyDeleteCheers mate :)
DeleteLeather looks very good, the extra effort really paid off!
ReplyDeleteBtw. How's your GS allergy?
Hey man, thanks for asking! Surprisingly good! It turned out that I had an issue with a mild acid reflux that weakened the walls of my throat enough for the GS vapours to become an issue. Since I changed my diet and started doing more regular exercise the symptoms went away almost completely!
DeleteAbsolutely magnificent! <3
ReplyDeleteHappy you like him!
DeleteDude, that looks amazing! Plain awesome indeed. I've said it before, but you'd swear that this was a plastic kit.
ReplyDeleteThat leather work is great. Did you follow a guide for it or just wing it? Any tips? And forget competition standard. You don't need a trophy to tell you you're onto a winner here.
What will you be playing with them? Skirmish? Who'll be your regular opponent(s)? Savage Orruks seem like a good fit, or something Destruction-y. I hope there as heavily themed (and excellently crafted) as your guys.
Eheheh, thanks, I realised later that the title of the post might sound a bit pretentious, I was just playing with words (although probably non-native speakers should stay far away from word plays).
DeleteYour question about my opponents is an interesting one! I do have a friend who started AoS with me (in fact he is the one who came out with many of the ideas for the Tribes of Or). Last time I checked he was working on some Realm of Chaos style tzeentchan acolytes with a "evil egyptian empire" feel with savage orruks allies. I asked him to send me something and maybe I will post some of his works in future posts!
Oh, that sounds cool. I've love to see what he's up to. There's all sorts of directions you could go there. Get all Scorpion King on him, and there's plenty of Conan flavoured stuff in that area as well.
DeleteGreat work!
