Still Alive!

Hi all,

I came back here to tell you I am not dead and to give an explanation to my long silence.

So, what happened that prevented me to post on my own blog for so long?

Well, as some of you might know, I developed a rather unfortunate allergy to epoxy putties. That means that, after having used them on an almost daily base for the lat ten years, I am now in the uncomfortable position of not being able to get too close to it, else my throat swells and I experience troubles breathing!
Now, you can probably imagine how I felt when I finally realised the cause of my distress and the consequences of this discovery... I kind of lost my motivation for a while.
The "Sons of Or" project I embarked on involves a great deal of sculpting and converting and I am now not able to go on with it until I find a solution to my allergic issue, so I decided to stop all work on it and take a break from sculpting.
That did not mean I  had to stop painting as well though, so I decided to dedicate myself to other unfinished projects I abandoned a while ago but which I never lost interest in.

There is my army of the Imperium for 40k (comprising Tempestus Scions, Admech and a small detachment of Adeptus Astartes), my Aestyrion warband for End Times and my Averland and bretonninan armies for warhammer fantasy (my all time favourite game and setting)

So, though I will need time and energies to figure out how to deal with this unexpected issue with epoxy putties, I will be back very soon posting my recent progresses here on my blog, since sharing them with you has been highly rewarding and motivative.

Bear with me, I'll be back soon!

Hagen

  1. Glad to see your post and hopefully you can find a solution to your dilemma (use different type of epoxy, gloves and mask?). Not only is your narrative/sculpting inspiring, but your painting also! Your Sons of Or project inspired me to try converting more also.

Of course the quality is nothing compared to your work, but its definitely been fun making 10 identical figures to be different!

  2. Hei Akai, thank you very much, I am glad my work inspired you (I just visited your blog, that's some really cool oop stuff! So rewarding to make old models look good with some shiny new paintjob).

  4. Sorry to hear about the allergies. Are you able to use a facemask and gloves (not sure if that stops allergies)

Looking forward to seeing your other projects though.

    1. I have already tried with gloves, apart from being a bit uncomfortable for me to get the same control over the medium I still get the throat reaction... I will try with a facemask though, but right now I did not have the will to go back sculpting in a Darth Vader suit ;)

  8. hey Hagen, I'm having a deja-vu. Where are you? Since Warseer went out of the air I haven't seen anything from you anywhere. Are you still active on some site or forum? I'm at The grand alliance, a very positive AoS forum.

    2. Good to hear that! You might want to check out 'The grand alliance'. It is a very positive AoS forum and some of the frequent contributies to the warseer Plogs have started a plog there, myself included (I,m elfhead by the way). I'm working on some conversions very much inspired by your work, I'd love for you to see them.
